Jersey has been noted as the holiday destination with the highest concentration of AA-rated restaurants in the British Isles.
The AA Restaurant Guide 2012 lists Jersey as having 35 AA Rosettes, far out-stripping large British cities such as Manchester (26 Rosettes), Birmingham (18 Rosettes) and Glasgow (17 Rosettes).
The number one and two spots go to London (678) and Edinburgh (58) respectively; however, with a population of only 87,000 and an area of 9 miles by 5 miles, the concentration of restaurants with AA awards in the island beats even the British capital.
Jersey has become a leading gastronomic centre in recent years, with local seafood and produce taking centre-stage on many an island menu. With two Michelin-starred restaurants – Bohmemia at the Club Hotel & Spa, and the Ocean Restaurant at the Atlantic Hotel – the level of culinary excellence and service in Jersey has been recognised on an international stage. With many fine dining restaurants, popular local cafes and even Thai beach shacks gaining in popularity, it is no surprise to hear that Jersey is leading the way in foodie brilliance.
