Longueville Manor is definitely not just a hotel. Secluded within the old stone walls at a safe distance from the town of St.Helier and surrounded by 16 acres of grounds, the hotel welcomes you with its beautiful main entrance dating back to 1550.
Longueville Manor is the only AA Five Red Star hotel in Jersey and a member of Relais & Chateaux – the world’s finest collection of small luxury hotels.
History of Longueville
The history of the hotel, despite its fragmentary character (there are only a few historical facts recorded on the history of the manor) takes us back into the 14th century when the first reference to a house on the present site was made. The next two references were made in 1560 and 1631 – the first one when Clement Messervy married Collette Nicolle, whose brother was the Bailiff and the other one in the memories of Benjamin La Cloche who made alterations to the house.
For many years the manor lacked care and attention and during the World War II was used as Officers’ quarters. Finally in 1948 the Lewis family purchased the building and, in the space of years, brought it to its contemporary splendour.
Today the owners of the hotel, Malcom and Patricia Lewis, continue to impress their guests by the high-quality service provided by their friendly staff, fine food in their renowned restaurant, awarded three AA Rosettes for 2012, and an excellent attention to detail which manifests itself not only on excellent customer service but also the decor.
Longueville Manor has 30 stylish rooms and suites decorated to the highest standard which include Classic, Superior and Deluxe Rooms, the Junior Suite and The Cottage Suite – an original Jersey granite house constructed in the early 17th century, boasting two double bedrooms (both with their own bathroom), a spacious lounge, a dining area for up to ten, a fully equipped kitchen and its own private garden.
The 16 acres of grounds consisting of gardens, woodland, kitchen garden and even an enchanting lake create a mysterious and magical ambience.
During the summer months the heated outdoor swimming pool and its terrace become the vibrant centre of the hotel, an ideal place to relax, enjoy a poolside cocktail, a light barbecue lunch or a leisurely swim. For those looking for a more active way to unwind there’s also the all weather tennis court, endorsed by Judy Murray after a series of tennis tutorials. The refreshments are provided and served on request.
Great For All Ages
It is certainly worth mentioning that Longueville Manor is a family friendly hotel and warmly welcomes children of all ages. Many hotel rooms take an extra bed, some even two and the two bedroom Cottage Suite is a perfect answer to the five star family holiday in Jersey. The kids are welcome to explore the grounds and activities such as kid’s croquet, nature trails, swimming or tennis. The hotel offers children’s menus, DVD library, board games, baby sitting and baby listening facilities and the staff will always go the extra mile to make the family stay even more enjoyable.
Winner of many awards (Condé Nast Johansens Most Outstanding Service award in 2010 and finalist Most Excellent Hotel in 2011 to name just a few), the hotel offers the outstanding service and facilities which also include: full bar, lounge and room service, meetings and events facilities, free high speed Wifi throughout, hairdryer, CD/DVD player, satelite TV, cordless phone and Ipod docking stations in room, DVD library, cookery demonstrations, wine testing, garden tours, car and cycle hire and an ample private car park.
The luxury, high quality service, perfect location in rural surroundings and yet only 2 km from the town centre make Longueville Manor a pefect alternative for stylish, luxury holidays in a hotel that constitutes an amazing synthesis of classic and contemporary styles, whilst retaining the atmosphere of an old Jersey manor house.
