Jersey Bite of the Week: Bento Sushi

Bento Sushi, Jersey

Since opening in 2009, Bento Sushi has become a firm favourite with locals and visitors alike. Nestled on a corner of St. Helier and close to Liberation Square and Jersey’s waterfront, Bento brings the food, drink and atmosphere of Japan to the streets of St. Helier.

Bento’s restaurant is a versatile place that offers sit-down meals, takeaway sushi for busy workers, and home delivery in the east of the island.

All aboard the sushi train

The centre of Bento is its sushi train, the only one in Jersey. Diners can sit, mingle and take their time, grabbing favourite dishes as they whirr past at a gentle pace. Plates are colour-coded and priced from £1.90 to £5.00, so you can spend as little or as much as you wish. If you fancy a hot dish, some green tea or a fresh Japanese beer, just ask one of the friendly members of staff, always at hand and always happy to help the newcomers to Japanese cuisine!

Our Favourites

Our favourite Bento dishes include the amazingly simple yet amazingly tasty cucumber and avocado maki rolls, sesame-coated tuna and salmon sashimi, healthy and fresh miso ramen noodles, indulgent soft shell crab tempura, and the ever-reliable california roll, filled to the brim with fresh local crab meat, avocado, cucumber and mayo.

Bento Sushi is ideal for a quick lunch or longer evening meal, and is open from 11.30am – 10pm, Monday – Friday, and 12pm – 10pm on Saturday.

If you’re staying at the Pomme d’Or Hotel or the Royal Yacht Hotel, Bento is just round the corner! Perfect for a tasty treat during your Jersey holiday.
