Way back in October we reported that plans were afoot for a new summer music festival in Jersey.
The team behind the Jersey Live Festival have now confirmed that this festival will go ahead on Saturday 30th June and Sunday 1st July 2012. Named the Jersey Folklore Festival, organisers are promising a weekend unlike any previously experienced in Jersey:
“Two days of alternative live music, comedy, theatre, poetry and film will take place across two stages at a site yet to be announced in Jersey on the weekend of June 30th and July 1st.
“FOLKLORE will be supporting Local Charities with details to be announced soon.”
A gap was left in Jersey’s summer festival and music calendar after the sad news that Jersey’s Grass Roots festival was discontinued last year, and the new Folklore Festival will be welcome news for both islanders and visitors alike.
Jersey Live will take to the stage for its ninth year during September; although the line-up is yet to be announced, we will undoubtedly see a host of both up-and-coming and popular established artists performing to over 10,000 people in the Jersey countryside. So far the organisers seem tight-lipped about Folklore’s potential line-up but, if early reports are anything to go by, a collection of alternative artists and quirky performers will be lighting up mid-summer in the Channel Islands.
As always, we’ll spread the word, right here, as soon as we know.
