Spring brings an array of outdoor activities back to the spotlight. With our new series of weekly activity recommendations, we hope to give you an insight of the adventure, exploration and fun on offer in Jersey. This week, we’ll be starting with Sea kayaking.
Crystal clear waters, 50 miles of coastline, caves, cliffs and easy accessibility make the island an absolute paradise for sea kayaking. A world of its own awaits you out on the water and who knows, you might even spot a dolphin.
Sea kayaks are small seaworthy boats that can take up to 3 people and can also carry some camping equipment and supplies. The growing popularity of this activity is no doubt linked to the pleasure of discovering the marine environment peacefully. No engine, no noise, no fuel, no reliance on anything but the power of your own paddle.
Jersey has become a chosen destination for many passionate kayakers worldwide but don’t worry, as no experience is necessary and lots of help and instruction is available for the beginner.
Absolute Adventures activity centre provides everything you will need to get on the water. Their qualified instructors will take you through the basic techniques of the sport and all the safety aspects. They offer guided tours around the coast for individuals, families and larger groups. The centre is conveniently located in the stunning St Brelade’s Bay on the south west corner of the island. The bay is one of the island’s most popular, with many facilities at hand. There are many hotels and restaurants to choose from and plenty of beach shops to equip you with aqua shoes and sunscreen should you need them.
The fun is on the water, the beauty in the environment so don’t delay, come and play!
