Open Water Swimming

About Open Water Swimming

The Island of Jersey is a paradise for open-water swimmers, with its 48 miles of unique and varied coastline and one of the biggest tidal movements in Europe. This growing popular pastime offers many physical and mental benefits such as improved circulation, reduced stress and anxiety and a boost in immunity.

Each of Jersey's magnificent bays can offer something unique with the firm favourites amongst local swimmers being St Brelades Bay, Portelet and Archirondel. You can also dive into the two natural pools at the Harve Des Pas Lido and the Marine pool in St. Aubins Bay which are perfect for beginners. Jersey is also host to numerous open water swimming events throughout the year with the local favourites being the Christmas Day Dip, 30 bays in 30 days and sporting events such as the Breca swim-run.
