Always check the tide times carefully before crossing the slipway to reach the lighthouse. The causeway is covered by the sea twice a day.
Spectacularly located on the south west tip of Jersey, Corbière Lighthouse is described by Victor Hugo as 'the herdsman of the waves'.
Built on a rocky outcrop 500 yards from the shore and towering 35 feet high, the lighthouse is accessible by way of a causeway. Be sure to check the tide times and be alert for the siren warning that the causeway is soon to be covered by the sea.
Corbière is a firm favourite of locals and visitors whatever the weather and is the perfect island location for watching the sun set over the horizon.
