2021 parade dates are 12th & 13th August
The origins of the Battle lie in 1902, during the coronation of Kind Edward Vll and Queen Alexandra when Islanders decided to hold a parade in their honour, with horse-drawn floats covered in flowers taking to the streets of Jersey. Flowers were picked from the floats and thrown to the audience. This developed into flowers being thrown back, and the 'Battle of the Flowers' was born.
After a break during the Second World War and German occupation, the event was revived in the 1950s. Today the Battle of Flowers is a community event that involves the whole island and attracts many visitors year after year.
The parade takes place every year during August, with floats, performers and dancers taking to Victoria Avenue overlooking the beautiful St. Aubin's Bay.
On Wednesday evening you will have the chance to tour the parade floats during their final stages of decoration, on our unique behind the scenes tour.
The main parade takes place during the afternoon on Thursday, with the stunning night parade lighting up the south coast on Friday evening.
