Jersey is home to some of the most scenic sporting events in the British Isles. All of our competitions welcome both local and international participants of all ages and abilities, plus there’s always a big atmosphere. Whether you’re participating or just there to cheer on the athletes, read on to find out more!

Running Events

Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon (October)

Run through some of the Island’s most picturesque areas of country lanes, scenic valleys and the spectacular coast of Jersey, while ticking off the most southerly Marathon in the British Isles. The race is split into three categories (Marathon, Relay Race and Marathon Mile), attracting over 2,500 runners from around the world.

All runners can anticipate a warm atmosphere from start to finish, with the route lined with locals and tourists cheering every step of the way. Becky & Gina, members of our marketing team, are part of the wonderful group of volunteers that make the event happen!

Cannaccord Jersey Half Marathon (June)

The Jersey Half Marathon is a staple on the island’s sports calendar. The 34th edition sees a change to the route, starting and finishing at Les Quennevais Cycle Track. It is a pretty sweet race given that the course is beautiful, largely flat or downhill, fast and with only one uphill to conquer!

Hospice to Hospice Half Marathon (March)

This brand-new race through Jersey’s scenic countryside is quickly becoming a favourite among locals. The course is quite flat with a gentle uphill section at mile 11 followed by a downhill stretch to the finish line on the picturesque grounds of Jersey Hospice Care. This race is deal for first-time half marathon runners or those wanting to run a personal record.

Save the date for next year’s event which will take place on Sunday 24 March 2024.

The Durrell Challenge (May) and the Durrell Dash (November)

Two of the most fun and inclusive events in the Jersey sporting calendar celebrated to raise money to help save endangered animals. The Durrell Challenge is a (largely uphill) 13km race from St. Helier to Jersey Zoo. The Dash starts and finishes at the zoo, with the choice of a 6km, 12km or a family-friendly 2.6km route for the youngest members of the house.

Walking Events

The Island Walk (June 17)

Embark on an inspiring adventure and explore the island by taking a 48.1-mile walk. The beauty of the route as you pass along Jersey’s beautiful coastline, sandy beaches, dramatic cliffs and stunning countryside will motivate and keep you going. For those who prefer a shorter adventure, the Lieutenant Governor’s Challenge offers the opportunity to complete a 13-mile route.

Accuro Jersey Triathlon (June 18)

This multi-sport race is all about having fun, celebrating friendship and encouraging one another while accomplishing personal goals. Also, we’re proud to continue welcoming international athletes wanting take the challenge and experience the island vibes.

Challenging, but totally doable! With four unique race formats and a multi-distance Junior Triathlon, there’s something for everyone. No matter the format, fast and exhilarating races are guaranteed.

Swim Run Jersey (September 9)

The second edition of the Swim Run Jersey is set to return this September. Get ready to dive into the action and experience the ultimate test of endurance. This sporting event is an amazing chance for athletes to safely conquer one of the biggest tides in the world and witness Jersey’s breath-taking natural beauty.

Rugby

Jersey has a rugby tradition since 1879, interrupted only by war and the Nazi occupation. The Jersey Reds compete in the RFU Championship, the second division of English rugby, and are the only professional sports team in the Channel Islands. The team was crowned RFU Championship winners for the first time just a few weeks ago on the 29th April 2023.
