Enjoy this series of open gardens throughout the year. From Orchid Farms to private residences with exceptional flora and fauna, there is a garden to delight everyone.

About JAYF

The JAYF (Jersey Association for Youth & Friendship) was founded in 1961 to provide homes for young people between the ages of 16 and 25 who, through no fault of their own, were denied normal home life and were in need of home security and help.

Saturday 9th February

Eric Young Orchid Foundation
Trinity

Enjoy spectacular orchid displays at this special charity event held by kind permission of the award winning Eric Young Orchid Foundation. As well as admiring the fabulous blooms, there will demos explaining how to look after these beautiful plants. Delicious cream teas will be available. And don't miss out on the raffle, prizes to include orchids generously donated by the Foundation.

Saturday 14th April

St George's Preparatory School
St Peter

Open by kind permission of St George's School, these glorious grounds comprise some of the most impressive woodland areas on the island and include a number of specimen trees. There are 35 acres of landscaped garden in total surrounding a Grade II listed Manor which now houses the school. Delicious cream teas will be available and there will be a tombola.

Saturday 28th April

Oaklands
St Peter

Visit this beautiful rambling garden, open by kind permission of Mrs Melissa Bonn. Highlights include an extensive collection of camellias and specimen shrubs, a large pond and extensive woodland, featuring silver birch, acers and what is reputed to be Jersey’s largest walnut. A further highlight is the well-stocked kitchen garden which keeps the family self-sufficient in fruit and veg. Delicious cream teas available.

Saturday 5th May

Grey Gables
St Brelade

Explore these extensive terraced and formal gardens. Mature spring flowering shrubs flank the paths leading to the valley area, and beneath them bluebells, primroses and foxgloves abound. Hedges of yew, viburnum, conifers and beech create a series of different gardens, including a beautiful rose and peony garden. Open by kind permission of the family of the late Celia Skinner. Regret no dogs. Delicious Jersey cream teas will be served.

Saturday 19th May

Old Farm
Trinity

Open by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Clive Chaplin, this wonderful garden consists of a small formal terrace with pond and rockery, an arboretum and a lawn with extensive herbaceous borders. Look out for the many fine specimen trees throughout. Delicious cream teas will be available and there will be a tombola.

Saturday 16th June

Domaine des Vaux
St Lawrence

Explore extensive beautiful gardens and woodland set around a traditional farmhouse. The valley contains native and species trees including many magnolias and camellias. As well as the glorious main garden, there is also a formal herb garden, greenhouse and vegetable garden. Admission £4, children under 12 free. Open by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Binney. Delicious Jersey cream teas available.

Saturday 7th July

Les Chasses
St John

A delight for nature lovers, these beautiful gardens have been specifically designed to attract birds, bugs and bees. A run of fir trees spanning the road provides safe passage for local squirrels. And there is an emphasis on traditional, pesticide-free solutions to gardening problems. Open by kind permission of Mr Roberts. Delicious Jersey cream teas are available.

Saturday 21st July

Le Coin
St Brelade

Originally a farm, Le Coin dates back in part to the early 17th Century. The main house was built in 1760 by Brelade Janvrin, a wealthy shipowner. The five acre garden is modelled on those of Monserrate in Portugal. It is open by kind permission of the family of the late Lady Cook in aid of JAYF (Jersey Association for Youth and Friendship). Delicious Jersey cream teas will be served on the lawn.
