The harbour-side village of St. Aubin is well-known for its wealth of top quality restaurants and bars, with Jersey’s locals and visitors being spoilt for choice throughout the year.
Danny’s at the Harbour View is no exception. Relatively new to the St. Aubin scene and twinned with the Harbour View Guest House, Danny’s Restaurant offers a mouth-watering selection of dishes with a tasty South Asian influence running through the menu.
The zingy South Asian flavours are perfectly paired with local Jersey produce, including Jersey scallops with spicy Nam-jim sauce and local seabass baked in banana leaf, accompanied by a steaming bowl of fresh Jersey Royals.
The table was bursting at the seams during our visit, with 12 diners ordering a varied collection of delectable treats. Standout dishes ranged from crispy tempura vegetable nests and chunky Thai fish cakes to slabs of perfectly cooked Angus steak and silky red snapper wrapped in parma ham, sat alongside a smokey Babaganouj. The dessert menu finishes off an evening with a sweet and warming flourish; the highlight being a deep, rich twist on the traditional sticky toffee: a sticky date and espresso pudding with homemade ice cream.
The range of zesty and tangy flavours are perfectly complimented by a bold and spicy wine list, focusing on new worlds and offering great value.
Danny’s is a small and intimate restaurant, yet somehow manages to create enough space for large tables and parties as well as dinners for two. The outdoor terrace is perfect for a Sunday lunch or long evening meal during the summer, looking out over St. Aubin’s harbour and to the bay beyond.
In a village of many foodie treats, Danny’s stands out as something different and something very, very tasty.
The four star Harbour View Guest House is open between March and November.
