Looking Forward: Spring Highlights in Jersey

Spring in JerseySpring Starts Early

Despite the current cold snap, spring is definitely in the air around the Channel Islands!

Jersey will soon be at its best, with something for everyone to enjoy. Daffodils are sprouting, restaurants and cafés are re-opening their terraces, our Jersey Royal potatoes are being planted, bringing life to the countryside, and boat owners are scrubbing their boats. We’re looking forward to the promise of warmth and the enthusiasm that arrives in the island when spring arrives – come and share it with us!

The Great Escape

For those of you with little time but in need of a quick holiday fix, don’t miss the “Great Escape” offer at L’Horizon Hotel and Spa. From there you can easily walk on the sands of St. Brelade’s Bay, maybe wander towards St Aubin’s charming harbour or simply stay put and take in the idyllic views of gold sand and blue seas.

If you’re looking for the best of both worlds and want to be close to town, overlooking the sea and only a bus ride away from the rest of the island, book yourself in the Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel. From complimentary WiFi and a modern terrace bar to a large indoor swimming pool and health club, there’s something for everyone.

The Great Outdoors

The best way to start appreciating Jersey during spring is to put on your walking boots and get outdoors.  Start by stretching your legs on a 30-minute stroll across one of our south coast beaches. A favourite is St Brelade’s bay on the south coast, where you can spoil yourself at the terrace of the Golden Sands Hotel – open from April onwards – or go for a relaxed lunch at the Wayside Café.

Organised itineraries are available from Arthur the Blue Badge Guide. His knowledge of the island’s walking routes and associated histories are second to none, making advance booking highly recommended!

Countryside Beauty

Cycling in SpringJersey celebrates the spring in style with its own Spring Flower Show, where local growers will proudly exhibit the fruits of their labour.

Jersey’s naturally warm climate means that this colourful event takes place early, on the 31st March at the Royal Jersey Agricultural & Horticultural Society showground. Every aspect of Jersey’s rural life is represented, from the beautiful Jersey cow to delicious Jersey ice-cream.

Where to Eat…

Chez Danny… both Danny’s Gorey and Danny’s St Aubin are delightful places to enjoy a meal full of spice, flavour and local produce. Danny Moisan’s imaginative menus are inspired by his travels although all include local Jersey ingredients, cooked with a twist. Both restaurants have an outdoor area where you can enjoy views of picturesque harbours and historic castles.

Local Pride

Les Ecrehous Reef, JerseyJersey is rightly proud of its Ramsar sites (designated Wetlands of International Importance). As protected coastal and marine environments, these sites provide a rich and diverse habitat for local and migratory birds.

Bring your binoculars to observe them and, if the weather and tides permit, enjoy the natural beauty of our offshore islands and reefs – Les Ecrehous, Les Minquiers and The Paternosters.

Getting Here

Don’t worry, we won’t have to come and pick you up.

Direct flights to Jersey operate from many UK airports, including year-round services from London Gatwick, Southampton, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Exeter, Glasgow and Liverpool. During the spring and summer, you can fly from many regional airports in England and if you’re travelling to Jersey from Scotland, Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness, to Cambridge, Humberside and Durham Tees Valley.
