Upcoming Events: Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon 2012

Jersey MarathonSunday 7th October 2012
26 miles across the island

The Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon returns on 7th October, with up to 2,500 runners expected to pound the island’s roads throughout the day.

About the Marathon

The event is split into three events: the full 26 mile marathon, the 26 mile relay, and the 3km fun run. With 70% of runners coming to the island specifically for the event, the marathon is a fantastic opportunity for visitors to see Jersey’s beautiful landscapes and experience a fun, friendly weekend.

The Jersey Marathon attracts runners of all abilities – from elite athletes competing for the top three cash prizes, to casual runners soaking up the atmosphere and kids’ teams taking part in the fun run. The event is a hive of fund-raising, and many charities have benefitted from runners’ efforts and generous sponsorship donations throughout the last few years.

For those visiting the island and taking part, you’ll gain a week’s worth of sights within a few hours. Starting in the Weighbridge area of St. Helier, the course follows the streets of the town centre before heading west and through the centre of the island. From the north-western country parishes, you’ll run south to the coastal parish of St. Brelade, and on to the home straight – a few miles taking in the views of St. Aubin’s Bay and back into St. Helier.
